Documentary selected for Circus International Film Festival 2025

We are pleased to announce that the BETA CIRCUS Participatory Experience documentary has been officially selected for the Circus International Film Festival (CIFF), taking place throughout April 2025.

Founded in 2021 during the global pandemic, CIFF was created by filmmaker and circus artist Marisa Diamond in response to the lack of dedicated platforms for circus films. The festival aims to honour and promote the art of circus through the medium of film, offering visibility to both circus artists and filmmakers. Entirely volunteer-run, CIFF is committed to equity and representation across race, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, (dis)ability, language, and religion.

This selection further recognises the artistic relevance and international scope of BETA CIRCUS, a cooperation project that explores participatory circus as an emerging trend in contemporary performance. By bringing together artists and local communities in collaborative creative processes, the project highlights the transformative potential of participatory methodologies in unconventional spaces.

The inclusion of the documentary in the CIFF official selection marks an important step in the dissemination of the project’s outcomes and reinforces its contribution to the evolving relationship between circus and cinema on an international scale.
